Brian Cladoosby has served in the Swinomish Indian Senate -- the official governing body of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community -- since 1985, and has served as its Chairman for more than 15 years. Prior to serving in the Swinomish Indian Senate, Cladoosby was a commercial fisherman.
Cladoosby formerly served as President of the Association of Washington Tribes and as President of the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians. In October 2013, he was elected President of the National Congress of American Indians.
He is a graduate of Skagit Community College and spends most of his limited spare time with his wife, Nina, a Lummi Tribal member, their daughters LaVonne and Mary, and their grandchildren.
